LYNDEE JANOWIAK NAMED TO WORLD JUNIOR TEAM-FEBRUARY 22, 2007

Manistee’s Lyndee Janowiak has been named to the 2007 FIS Alpine Junior World Ski Championships in Austria, March 7-11. The United States Ski Team member is one of 14 athletes (7 women and 7 men).

Janowiak is expected to compete in all four of the alpine disciplines including downhill, super-g, giant slalom and slalom. Plus Janowiak also anticipates participating in the super-combined. Recently, Janowiak had her first Nor Am podium in the super-combined in Apex, British Colombia. Janowiak followed up that great result with an 8th place finish in the Super-g at Big Mountain, Montana.

The World Junior Championships will take place in Altenmarkt/Zauchensee and Flachau.

U.S. Alpine Director Jesse Hunt stated, “This is really strong team and we have expectations of medals. We won the Marc Hodler Cup, which goes to the top overall team in 2004 at Maribor (Slovenia) and we have the potential to do very well again at Junior Worlds.”

Janowiak commented, “Being named to the U.S. World Junior Team is a special honor for me. It is an accomplishment that I’m proud of. Most importantly now, I want to be at my very best in Austria. I will train now for a couple days in Park City before making the journey to Europe.”
