World Youth Symphony Orchestra, Christopher Rountree – Interlochen Arts Festival – July 17, 2016
Conductor Christopher Rountree lends his trademark “infectious enthusiasm” to the World Youth Symphony for their third performance of the season. Rountree guides the World Youth Symphony Orchestra through a program that includes selections from Muhly’s So Far So Good, Stravinsky’s Firebird Suite and Debussy’s Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun.
Christopher Rountree is the founder, conductor and creative director of the Los Angeles-based wild Up chamber orchestra. Rountree’s unique vision is to liberate classical music from classical tradition through deep and engaging relationships between music, musicians and the audience. Interlochen is only a short stint of a busy creative season for Rountree, which includes appearances with the Chicago Symphony, LA Opera and Atlanta Opera.
